Xbox 360 Elite :)
I finally jumped onto Microsoft's next gen offering. I'd been waiting for Halo 3 to be released and seeing as the price cuts have happened and I don't reckon there be another one in a months time, I've gone and got myself the Elite along with Gears of War and Bioshock.
I can finally play past the first level of Gears - I've done it at least 3 times now on my various friends consoles :P
To help with the 360 experience I went and brought myself a 32inch HDTV for a quite respectable price of £499 - though I went though a small dose of hell attaching it to the wall. The wall mount kit I brought was Vesa certified but the TV used larger bolt holes then Vesa standard. Seeing as the next model stand was double the price (£140) I decided to go and buy larger bolts. I managed to find some that fit, but then discovered they wouldn't go though the holes on the mounting plate (insert frustrated grunt here). Thankfully I have a good metal drill bit set that enlarged the holes quite easily. So I finally (seem to be using that word a lot this post) got the mounting plate on the back of the TV - I then turned my attention to getting the backing plate onto the wall.
This went well enough at first. The drill powered though the wall to the correct depth, the wall plugs slid in snugly. The plate went up, the screws went in - halfway. Try as I might I couldn't get the damn things to turn any more. I had to result to my claw hammer to pound the things in - that was a satisfying moment.
I made sure all the cables where connected and secured to the back of the TV and hooked it to the wall - and it was good - it didn't come crashing down :D
I then finally (last time I swear) allowed myself to connect the Elite and try it out.
I even logged on to Xbox live and got my gamer tag - amazingly I managed to get my online name - Chaos Net. I thought that would of been taken ages ago :)
Right enough chatter, I've got to finish sorting out this place (it's a junk heap at the moment this room) and then I can play some Bioshock.
To Rapture!
